In Genesis 12:1-3, the Bible says, Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. (See also- Numbers 24:9)
On December 6 2017, President Trump did what no other American president has had the guts to do. He publicly acknowledged what the rest of the world already knows, what the Arab nations want everyone to reject- that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Despite threats that the Arab world would explode, despite knowing he would be fiercely condemned by the media, the socialists, and the politically-correct politicians, he did what he knew was right. In doing so, Donald Trump blessed Israel probably more than any other American president has ever done.
So, where are Donald Trump’s blessings? The Left relentlessly attacks him. Like rabid dogs, foaming at the mouth, they have been continuously screaming, “IMPEACH. IMPEACH. IMPEACH” since before he even took office. Mainstream media has held a constant banshee wailing of hatred for him. Even most of Trump’s “supporters” cowardly stand silently in the shadows.
Has God forgotten His promise? Was it just some Old Testament fluff that doesn’t really mean anything? Has God been watching too much CNN, and decided to withhold His blessings?
President Trump is receiving little, or none, of what most of us would call the Blessings of God (riches, power, fame). He had all this before he blessed Israel. We can say that it is America that is reaping the blessings, and indeed, America is experiencing greater riches, global power, and glory than she has had for a great many years. But, most likely, this would simply be America’s blessings for refusing to put another anti-God, anti-Israel president in the White House. The fact is that God promised to bless Donald Trump personally. Where are his blessings?
The truth is, that our views of “blessings” may not be what God calls “blessings”. The word translated “bless” literally means to kneel in the presence of God and be thanked or congratulated. In the Old Testament, people were often blessed with riches, or power, or fame. But, as the Bible focuses on the end-times, the meaning of blessings generally refers to the honor of standing before God. (James 1:12; Revelation 5:12). And, when the Bible mentions the last-days Christian martyrs, this honor is the only blessing they will receive (Revelation 14:13).
And, let us not forget that the Bible clearly tells us “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12) And 1 Peter 4:12 says, “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you”. Tribulation is a normal part of life, during which we are to be patient and continue in prayer, and rejoice in hope (Romans 12:12).
Skeptics are quick to attack our faith with “Why would an all-loving God allow bad things… blah, blah, blah.” But tribulation does not signify that God is withholding His blessings. Jesus was the only perfect man who ever lived, yet, He suffered greatly. None of us has any right to experience less tribulation and persecution than He did. If we suffer less, that’s mercy. (see also- Matthew 5:10-12; John 15:19-21).
Those who teach a pre-tribulation rapture, teach that tribulation is the wrath of God, and Christians are exempt from it (1 Thessalonians 5:9). They are quick to claim that Christians who go through the Great Tribulation are not actually the church. The left-over Christians are simply a second-class something that gets denied the promises of God, despite the fact that God can never lie or change His mind concerning His promises (Numbers 23:19).
Tribulation and persecution are not the withholding of God’s blessings. It is the path to heaven (Acts 14:22). So, we see that the relentless attacks against President Trump are not a sign that God is withholding His blessings. It is simply the normal tribulations brought about by evil people. The attacks against President Trump, and against the American people who elected him, are simply socialists doing what socialists do- trying to have complete control over everyone. Under socialism, people are not allowed to make their own choices. Socialist governments grant themselves that right. Electing Donald Trump as president, rather than their choice for us, was a major slap-in-the-face against socialism.
Moreover, the attacks against Donald Trump, and against us, only increase God’s blessings (the honor of standing before God) for us (1 Peter 1:7; James 1:2). They cannot separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:35). If we are truly committed to God, tribulation refines our faith, so the more they attack us, the greater we become in the kingdom of God (Matthew 13:1-23).
